History

Hispano Hilarienca is heir to the horse carriages that operated on the route from Sant Hilari Sacalm to the train station at Breda at the end of the nineteenth century. In the early years of the twentieth century horse drawn carriages were exchanged for motor vehicles and in 1924, with the introduction of the Public Corporations Act, the company adopted its current name.

It can justifiably be asserted that La Hispano has been present in three different centuries and has both witnessed and been part of the development of road passenger transport in our country.
The name Hispano Hilarienca comes from the role that the prestigious motor vehicle producer, La Hispano Suiza, played in the creation of the company, providing a portion of its capital in the form of fleet vehicles.

Throughout the last century Hispano Hilarienca began and developed its commercial activity in the transport sector in the counties of La Selva and Osona, bringing inhabitants from small population centres to various fairs and markets and linking them to the capitals of the provinces of Barcelona and Girona. Over the years the company has been able to adapt to changing circumstances and has experienced the highs and lows inherent in such a long term enterprise
.
These days the company comprises a team of more than 20 people and more than 20 buses, ranging in size from 17 to 55 seats. It provides regular and charter services, both nationally and internationally, with several vehicles adapted for people with reduced mobility. Transportation of company personnel, school children and all types of sports outings as well as services for Travel Agencies.

Hispano Hilarienca has garages in Sant Hilari Sacalm and Salt (Girona) and extensive offices that have been fully computerised since 1985.

Since 1989 the company has belonged to the Transports Municipals del Gironès Corporation, the concession holder of urban transport in Girona city. Hispano Hilarienca manages its services and has responsibility for the corporation’s more than thirty buses and its sixty drivers.
